About
Julie Manthey is a novelist , playwright, and director who loves a good story. She started writing stories for her family and friends as soon as she could hold on to a crayon. Originally from northern Idaho and an alumna of Georgetown University, her novels explore themes of hope, fate, and destiny across contemporary romance and women’s fiction.
She made her literary debut with The Magic of Cape Disappointment, a novel blending history, fiction, destiny, and romance, which earned recognition as a Foreword Reviews' INDIES Book of the Year Award Finalist in 2015 and Readers’ Favorite Book Award in 2018. She followed her debut success with the award-winning romance Christmas at Maplemont Manor, which took home an Independent Publisher Book Award (IPPY) in 2020.
In 2026, she directed her first play for Colonial Players in Annapolis, Maryland, as part of a 10-minute play festival. This experience and her love of theater in general, inspired her to write the play, ‘Are We There Yet?’
Dedicated to giving readers a fun, magical escape, her stories emphasize hope triumphing over adversity. Julie loves a strong cup of coffee and is taller in person.
